Well said, Brett. I'm so glad to have had a few days with her this last summer. She had one foot on the proverbial banana peel but was still able to make some pretty good wisecracks.

hey Manny, thanks for this post, I actually discovered today the origin of your guest exhibition at BOP and this is fun : "what is BOP? Some kind of nostalgic riff on Beatnik-era Jazz? Or a bunch
of Pop Art collector-geeks who eat snails and sip wine with their

I had the chance to see the exhibition in Toves Galleri (I was exposing together with BOP right in front) and I must say Manny's exhibition is a great piece of work.
First, I am a big fan of the few photographers who take the risk to mix black and white and color in the same exhibition. And this is what Manny did with panache ! The black and white photographs are grainy, like moody drawings made with charcoal (as good as Bertrand Meunier from tendance floue agency), my favorite is the 10th (as per flash slideshow above), an incredible wide scene with dark edge and two white fighter kings in the center. The print of that photograph is a must seen, there is so much power and tension there... For the color ones, in fact they are almost monochrome with some tint or spots that gives the full dimension to the scenes. The best one is the number 7th, I guess it's a scene captured before fight, I like the humorous green exit sign on top of that huge sumo guy.

Manny, I had no chance to meet you in CPH but thanks again for your exhibition !

Jeez Jakov...that's truly amazing that you made it out to such a desolate little spot for some great, and obviously memorable times. The only bars I saw were the Capital & Plumas club (which looked shut down) but I can imagine there being a quite a call for Irish & Scot contingent to get up & sing...Americans just don't have that in their DNA in the same way...What other festivals have you been to?

Quincy is too much - we kept meeting grizzled old Hippies with parrots and monkeys and other exotic pets. Forget what the pub is called there but we lit it up with a singsong (Irish and Scots contingent) on the Sunday lunch - people made us a stage and forced us to sing for them.
Her name was Angela. Brunette.

Excellent recall my friend...but then again, how could you forget all naked beauty? & Richard Thompson! The drum circle--in fact any fan-originated music--has been curtailed from 11am to 11pm...and the food is great (California Oysters, Seafood Paella, Frickles! & lots of great Sierra Nevada & Lagunitas brew).

ah memories....it also marked the one and only time in my life I had a long conversation in the woods with a beautiful, naked young girl where it didn't end up in us getting into it. She was getting changed out of the trunk of her car. I was tripping on Blue Death shrooms. I'm cursed with remembering every detail.
